Q. In a nutshell, what do you do for Freeman?
I am part of the corporate business development team. My role is to help our clients achieve their event objectives through custom exhibition stands which align with their business goals — they might be launching a new product or re-branding at an event, and the stands we design and build for them raise awareness of this.
Q. What are you up to at the moment?
June has been a busy start as expected — in particular we had a significant number of custom and enhanced stands at Automechanika Birmingham. With FY17 almost at its end, my focus is now on FY18 — through show visits, strategic targeting and planned meetings with clients.
Q. Favourite thing about events?
There are so many it’s hard to pick just one! I would have to say it’s meeting and working with different people, while also having the opportunity to learn about various different companies, their brands and products. Each day is different, which is nice.
Q. How do you stay inspired?
I like to reflect on past achievements and take learnings from different situations to help me keep inspired and make self improvements. I also find hearing about how other people have achieved success is motivating — it gives me something to aspire towards.
Q. Proudest work moment?
I achieved a significant amount of revenue in custom build for a June show which I started targeting in February. It’s a huge personal achievement and something I did not expect.
Q. How do relax when you’re not working?
I’m not quite sure you would call it relaxing, but I like staying physically active. I play football at the weekends, go to the gym and jog — the usual really.
Q. What advice would you give your 16-year-old self?
Don’t be in such a hurry, take your time with things and most of all do what you enjoy most.
Q. Who’s your celebrity look-a-like?
Alfonso Ribeiro. For those who don’t know who this is, you are more than likely going to know him as Carlton Banks… and no… I can’t do the dance!
